🧾 The Story
Site Updates

SoMuchGah.com and TophiachuTikTok.com are now officially merged, combining two parallel efforts into a single, unified archival project. What began as separate initiatives to preserve niche internet history now operates as one centralized hub under the So Much Gah umbrella.

What Changed?

The merger brings together:

  • SoMuchGah.com, a broader archival and documentation platform

  • TophiachuTikTok.com, an archive of r/tophiachutiktok

Instead of operating independently, both now contribute to a shared system, consolidating posts, media, and discussion threads in one place.

Current Archive Status

At present, the merged archive includes recovered posts from:

  • June 2024

  • March 2025

  • September 2025

Some gaps remain.

Certain dates are missing due to incomplete data retrieval during earlier scraping and backup efforts. These gaps are acknowledged and will be revisited for recovery at a later time.

Media Limitations

Not all content has been fully restored.

Some media, especially videos, are currently blocked or unavailable. This is largely due to Reddit changing how video URLs are structured, which has broken previously archived links.

Recovery efforts are ongoing, though results will depend on what can still be accessed or reconstructed.

A New Layer: Forum Integration

One of the most significant additions is the introduction of forum topics tied to each archive post.

This creates a hybrid system:

  • The archive remains static, preserving original content as it existed

  • The forum allows current discussion to take place alongside it

Rather than altering historical records, discussion exists as a separate but connected layer.

Why Merge?

Running two archival platforms separately creates fragmentation:

  • Duplicate infrastructure

  • Split datasets

  • Disconnected user activity

By merging, So Much Gah aims to:

  • Centralize preservation efforts

  • Streamline future recovery work

  • Create a single point of access for the Chuniverse archive

This reflects a shift toward a more structured, long-term system.

What Comes Next

The project is still in progress.

Planned efforts include:

  • Filling missing date gaps

  • Attempting recovery of blocked or broken media

  • Expanding archive coverage across additional communities

Much easier to have them under one system.
